Do you have the same questions?
Our R&D team answers:
- Why do impressions need to be disinfected before sending them to the dental technician?
Every impression that comes into contact with the mucous membrane of the patient should be considered contaminated. Thus, the cleaning and disinfection take place immediately after removal in order to eliminate any possible risk of infection. - Should the disinfectant for impressions also have cleaning properties?
Yes, absolutely. Before disinfection, the impressions are only rinsed under running water. Traces of blood or protein may still be attached to the impression. These must be removed by the cleaning properties of the disinfectant. - Why is an immersion disinfection better than disinfection with a surface disinfectant?
The advantage of an immersion disinfection is that all surfaces can be completely coated and that there are no gaps of effectiveness. However, it is important to make sure that no bubbles form during immersion. Furthermore, immersion disinfection avoids the hazardous aerosol that is created by spray disinfection. - How long does the disinfection of impressions take?
Impression disinfectants were designed to be fast-acting. An exposure time of more than five minutes can cause the impressions to lose their form stability. A disinfection with PROSEPT® Impression takes only three minutes.
