OROCLEAN Hygiene-Monitoring

As a Swiss manufacturer of disinfectants with our own microbiological laboratory, we offer two types of microbiological self-monitoring.

OROCLEAN® Petri Dish

With the OROCLEAN® Petri Dishes, a general contamination of bacteria and fungi is easily identifiable. The petri dishes help to expose gaps in your hygiene efforts and provide clues as to problems or shortcomings of the applied disinfection and cleaning measures. Our concept specifies 10 or 20 critical examination points (CEP), which are subject to a high degree of contamination during a dental treatment.

The use of OROCLEAN® Petri Dishes is incredibly simple. First choose between a single or periodic hygiene examination plan, then select the number of Petri Dishes in accordance with the size of your dental clinic.

On the following Monday, you will receive from us by courier:

  • An insulated hygiene box with Petri Dishes
  • Pre-printed stickers for the CEPs
  • Detailed instructions
  • An order form

On one of the following three days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), you examine the CEPs. The curved agar surface on the top edge of the petri dishes is to be pressed onto the surface or object to be examined and removed after 2-3 seconds. After carefully closing the petri dishes’ lids and securing it with adhesive tape, you mail the dishes back to us on the same day in the hygiene box.

Upon receipt, the dishes are immediately incubated in our microbiology laboratory at 30°C for 48-72 hours. The germs are then electronically counted and evaluated. After 7 working days, you will receive a test report with pictures of every petri dish,  detailed explanations of the results and recommendations for improvements. Additionally, depending on the set and results, you will receive a hygiene certificate and/or a hygiene award, documenting your additional efforts and accomplishments.

OROCLEAN® Bioindicators

Our OROCLEAN® Bioindicators examine the operational reliability of your autoclaves. Within one week you will receive the bioindicators and an order form from us. After sterilizing them in your autoclave, you mail the bioindicators back to us. In our microbiological laboratory we incubate the vials for 48 hours at 60°C. If the sterilization was incomplete, the vial will change the color during incubation. The examination results will be mailed.
