Because Quality Matters
Aspirating units are as critical to any dental shop as the burs themselves. They reduce the formation of harmful aerosol and remove lose tartar, amalgamate particles, blood and saliva. Given the exposure to these pathogenic substances, regular cleaning and disinfection plays a particularly important role. As a matter of fact, prolonged exposure of the suction hoses to these substances results in the formation of biofilm build-up, a build-up of residue that covers up pathogenic organisms in the suction hose, producing an unpleasant stench and a risk of cross contamination should reflux from the suction unit into the patients mouth occur. As a result, regular cleaning of the surfaces of suction units and disinfection of the hoses with a non-foaming disinfectant is a must.
